privacy policy - abercrombiekids.com
abercrombiekids.com
abercrombiekids.com encourages families to use and explore the Internet together. No information should be submitted to abercrombiekids.com by guests under 13 years of age without the consent of their parent or guardian.

Because many visitors to this site are children, we take care that our content is appropriate for children. We respect the privacy of children, and do not and cannot collect any more personal information about children under 13 than is reasonably necessary to enable them to participate in the activities that we offer at our Web site.

In order to make your visits to abercrombiekids.com as cool as possible, we do collect certain information from your computer each time you visit us and sometimes we ask you for personal information. To help ensure a rewarding online experience for parents and children, we provide this summary of what information abercrombiekids.com collects online, and how abercrombiekids.com uses that information. This privacy policy statement applies only to the information collected online by abercrombiekids.com.

General Browsing:
abercrombiekids.com gathers navigational information about where visitors go on our Web site. This information allows us to see which areas of our Web site are most visited and helps us improve the quality of your online experience by allowing us to deliver more of the most desired features and services. Additional non-personally identifiable information (for example, domain type, browser version, service provider, IP address) may also be collected, which will provide information regarding the general use of the abercrombiekids.com Web site.

Collection of Personally Identifiable Information:
With respect to our online information collection practices for those persons over the age of 12 who elect to sign up for the "Mailing List", submit an "a" life profile or "Contest" for consideration to appear on abercrombiekids.com or create a registration profile at the abercrombiekids.com online store, we collect the following types of personal information directly from our online visitors: e-mail address, first and last name, age and birth date, telephone number and home or physical address, as well as any provided "a" life profile or "Contest" information.

For Children Under 13:
Only visitors over the age of 12 are permitted to create a registration profile at the online store. However, with regard to the general "Mailing List" registration at abercrombiekids.com, we have a separate "Mailing List" registration process for kids who state that they are under the age of 13. Kids under the age of 13 will only be asked to provide their name, age and parent's/guardian's e-mail address. abercrombiekids.com will then send the parent/guardian an e-mail notice and a request that the parent complete the "Mailing List" sign up for their child. Before the child is registered and can receive e-mails and other promotional materials from abercrombiekids.com, the child's parent/guardian must consent by completing the child's "Mailing List" registration information. Whenever a parent/guardian completes the child's "Mailing List" registration information, abercrombiekids.com will send the parent/guardian a confirmation e-mail notification.

If a parent/guardian does not wish to consent by completing their child's "Mailing List" registration with abercrombiekids.com, the parent/guardian may decline the child's registration on the "Mailing List" page. If a parent/guardian declines their child's registration, the information provided by the child (name, age, and parent's/guardian's e-mail address) will be purged from abercrombiekids.com's records. In addition, the child's name, age and parent's/guardian's e-mail address will be deleted automatically if abercrombiekids.com does not receive a parent's/guardian's consent within 14 days after the e-mail notice and request for completion of the "Mailing List" registration information is sent to the parent/guardian. Should a parent/guardian initially consent to their child's registration by completing the "Mailing List" registration, they can cancel that consent at any time by e-mailing such a request to abercrombiekids.com at kids@abercrombie.com. If a parent/guardian later cancels their consent to abercrombiekids.com "Mailing List" registration, all personally identifiable information obtained online from the parent/guardian about their child will be purged from abercrombiekids.com's records.

For parents/guardians who have completed their child's "Mailing List" registration, they can review the personally-identifiable information they provided about their child online by sending a letter or postcard to the abercrombiekids.com postal mailing address provided under "Contact Us" below. When making a written request to review such information, please be sure to include your e-mail address and telephone number where we can reach you. To protect your child's privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access to the personal information that you provide and we maintain about your child.

Occasionally, abercrombiekids.com will feature profiles of a kids "a" life on our Web site. New consent, separate from the "Mailing List" consent, will be required from parents/guardians for children under the age of 13. As a result, if a child under the age of 13 indicates that they think they've got what it takes to be the next person profiled on abercrombiekids.com, whether through the traditional "a" life feature or through the occasional contests that may take place on our Web site, abercrombiekids.com will ask the child to provide their name, age and parent's/guardian's e-mail address. abercrombiekids.com will then send the parent/guardian an e-mail notice that their child wants to be considered for a future profile and request the parent/guardian to tell us about their child. If a parent/guardian declines to respond to abercrombiekids.com's request to tell us about their child, the information their child provided in the initial profile screen (i.e., the child's name, age and parent's/guardian's e-mail address) will be purged from abercrombiekids.com's records. If a parent/guardian responds to the request, only the child's name, age, e-mail address and the parent's description of what makes their child "cool" must be provided for their child to be considered. Once abercrombiekids.com selects a child to be profiled online, abercrombiekids.com will contact the parent/guardian of such child for additional verification and consent for that specific use. Therefore, the remaining information fields on the "a" life profile form are optional, and will be used to expedite the process of obtaining parental consent for such selected entries, as well as for the marketing purposes described below.

The Online Store:
A customer must have a credit card in order to purchase merchandise from the abercrombiekids.com online store. When merchandise is ordered from the abercrombiekids.com online store, the following types of personal information will be collected at the time of purchase: credit card information, e-mail address, first and last name, billing and shipping address including street name, name of town, state, country, and telephone number.

Only visitors over the age of 12 are permitted to register with the online store at abercrombiekids.com. Registering with the online store allows visitors to create an address book, make a wish list, and enjoy "quick checkouts" by having abercrombiekids.com automatically enter their billing address and preferred shipping information.

When a visitor over the age of 12 registers with the online store, they may create and use an Address Book, which allows registered users to save in the Address Book they create all of the different names and addresses to whom they frequently send purchases or gifts. When a registered user wants to send a purchase to someone in their Address Book, they simply need to select the desired recipient on the check-out screen. The information a registered user enters into their Address Book is not used for any promotional purposes by us or our affiliated companies, nor is such information rented, sold or exchanged with or to third parties.

In addition, when a visitor over the age of 12 registers with the online store, they may create and send a Wish List, which allows their friends and family to see the registered user's desired items, as well as make purchases directly off that list. When a registered user finds an item in the online store that they want, they can click "Add to Wish List." The registered user can then request abercrombiekids.com to forward the registered user's Wish List by providing the e-mail address(es) of the requested recipient(s). abercrombiekids.com will then send an e-mail to the requested recipient(s), which will include a link to the registered user's Wish List. The e-mail address information provided by a registered user in the Wish List feature is not used for any promotional purposes by us or our affiliated companies, nor is such information rented, sold or exchanged with or to third parties.

Use and Disclosure of Information Collected Online:
In addition to the uses discussed below, the information collected at this Web site is used for the internal operations of the Web site and for order fulfillment purposes, as well as to respond to specific questions asked by our visitors and to fulfill specific requests to participate in activities at our Web site.

"a" life profiles and "Contest" applications that are submitted for consideration to appear on abercrombiekids.com that are ultimately selected to appear online, will appear on the abercrombiekids.com Web site only after additional notification is sent and specific consent is received offline.

The personal information collected in the Online Store and the Mailing List, "a" life profile and Contest features at this Web site may be used for abercrombiekids.com marketing. If you do not wish to receive promotional materials and special offers from abercrombiekids.com, you may e-mail such a request to abercrombiekids.com at kids@abercrombie.com. If a parent submits their child's personal information and does not wish to have their child receive abercrombiekids.com marketing, they may also e-mail such a request to abercrombiekids.com at the e-mail address listed above.

When an online user sends an electronic postcard or e-mails an item to a friend from the abercrombiekids.com Web site, the designated recipient will receive the sender's name and e-mail address, as well as any information entered into the message by the sender. abercrombiekids.com does not retain or review the names or e-mail addresses of the sender or recipient, which are provided in an electronic postcard or Email-A-Friend. Likewise, abercrombie.com does not retain or review any information provided in the message content.

When a visitor uses the "Help" or "Contact" features of the abercrombiekids.com Web site, abercrombiekids.com only asks for the visitor's e-mail address, which allows abercrombiekids.com to respond to a specific request or question received from the visitor. abercrombiekids.com does not collect, retain or use any of the information provided in the "Help" or "Contact" features of the abercrombiekids.com Web site, including in the message content, for any purpose other than to respond, on a one-time basis, to a specific request or question received from the visitor. The questions and answers posted on our Web site are composed by the staff of abercrombiekids.com based on their general knowledge of the issues that are of interest to kids.

abercrombiekids.com may disclose personal information obtained online at this Web site with outside contractors who provide support for the internal operations of the Web site (e.g., contractors who provide fulfillment services or technical support to the Web site). Outside contractors who have access to this information are required to treat the personal information in a confidential manner.

Additional Use and Disclosure of Information Collected from Visitors Over the Age of 12:
All information collected from visitors prior to 05-10-2002 will only be used for the purposes described above.
